Dream
in
Heart
On
the
first
day
of
school
our
professor
introduced
a
new
classmate—a
wrinkled
little
old
lady—to
us.
Her
name
was
Rose,
and
she
was
eighty-seven
years
old.
After
class
Rose
and
I
walked
to
the
Student
Union
Building
and
shared
a
chocolate
milk-shake.
She
told
me
she
always
dreamed
of
having
a
college
education
and
now
she
was
getting
one.
We
became
instant
friends.
Every
day
for
the
following
months,
we
would
leave
class
together
and
talk
nonstop.
I
was
always
attracted,
listening
to
this

time
machine”
as
she
shared
her
wisdom
and
experience
with
me.
Rose
became
famous
and
easily
made
friends
wherever
she
went.
She
tended
to
be
highly
motivated,responsible,
and
deeply
involved
in
class
participation.
In
spare
time
she
had
someone
hang
out
or
go
to
bars
with.
She
even
participated
in
some
form
of
athletic
activity.
She
said
that
extra-curricular
activities
can
form
a
vital
part
of
her
experience,
creating
unique
chances
for
friendship
and
learning.
At
the
end
of
the
term
we
invited
Rose
to
speak
at
our
football
meal.
A
little
embarrassed,
she
leaned
into
the
microphone
and
simply
said,

I’
m
sorry
I’
m
so
nervous.”
As
we
laughed,
she
cleared
her
throat
and
began,

We
do
not
stop
playing
because
we
are
old;
we
grow
old
because
we
stop
playing.
There
is
a
huge
difference
between
growing
older
and
growing
up.
If
you’
re
nineteen
years
old
and
lie
in
bed
for
one
full
year,
you
will
turn
twenty.
If
I’
m
eighty-seven
years
old
and
stay
in
bed
for
a
year,
I
will
turn
eighty-eight.
Anybody
can
grow
older.
It’
s
non-optional
but
that
doesn’
t
take
any
talent
or
ability.
The
idea
is
to
grow
up
by
always
finding
the
chance
in
change.
In
this
way
the
elderly
don’
t
have
regrets
for
what
they
did,
but
rather
for
things
they
did
not
do.”
Rose
concluded
her
speech
by
courageously
singing

The
Rose”
.
She
challenged
us
to
study
the
words
of
the
song
and
lived
them
out
in
daily
lives.
At
the
year’
s
end
Rose
finished
the
college
degree
she
had
begun
all
those
years
ago.
One
week
after
graduation
Rose
died
peacefully
in
her
sleep.
Over
two
thousand
college
students
attended
her
funeral
in
honor
of
the
wonderful
woman
who
taught
by
example
that
it’
s
never
too
late
to
be
all
you
can
possibly
be.

does
the
author
compare
Rose
to

time

As
cultural
symbols
go,
the
American
car
is
quite
young.
The
Model
T
Ford
was
built
at
the
Piquette
Plant
in
Michigan
a
century
ago,
with
the
first
rolling
off
the
assembly
line(装配线)
on
September
27,
1908.
Only
eleven
cars
were
produced
the
next
month.
But
eventually
Henry
Ford
would
build
fifteen
million
of
them.
?
?Modern
America
was
born
on
the
road,
behind
a
wheel.
The
car
shaped
some
of
the
most
lasting
aspects
of
American
culture:
the
roadside
diner,
the
billboard,
the
motel,
even
the
hamburger.
For
most
of
the
last
century,
the
car
represented
what
it
meant
to
be
American—going
forward
at
high
speed
to
find
new
worlds.
The
road
novel,
the
road
movie,
these
are
the
most
typical
American
ideas,
born
of
abundant
petrol,
cheap
cars
and
a
never-ending
interstate
highway
system,
the
largest
public
works
project
in
history.

?In
1928
Herbert
Hoover
imagined

“a

in
every
pot
and
a
car
in
every
garage.”
Since
then,
this
society
has
moved
onward,

as
the

transformed

America
from

into
an
industrial
power.gkstk

?The
problems

described
in

by
the
American

out
that
the

第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Just
Do
It
Today,
Not
Tomorrow
You"re
about
to
call
your
grandma
and
you
figure
you’ll
call
her
as
soon
as
you
finish
your
after
school
snack.
But
then
you
decide
to
catch
up
on
your
favorite
TV
series,
and
after
that
you
decide
to
upload
the
pictures
and
then...,
before
you
know
it,
it’s
time
for
bed.
And
you
still
haven’t
called
Gram.
Uh-oh.
?
?
31?
?
?.
But
is
this
your
day,
every
day?
Are
you
always
dragging
your
feet
until
the
last
minute
and
then
rushing
around
to
get
it
all
done?
Then
listen
up,
because
we
can
help
you
stop
putting
things
off
and
start
getting
things
done.
1.Get
organized---make
a
list!?
Write
everything
down,
and
be
sure
to
include
when
it
needs
to
be
completed.?
?
?32?
?
?.
And
make
it
fun--buy
a
cute
notebook
just
for
your
to-do
lists,
and
give
yourself
a
happy
face
sticker
every
time
you
complete
a
task.
Or,
if
you
prefer
to
go
digital,
try
note-taking
apps,
or
just
keep
your
list
in
the
“notes”
feature
on
your
phone
or
pad.?
2.Reward
yourself.
?
?
33?
?
?.
For
smaller
jobs,
promise
yourself
one
TV
series
of
your
favorite
YouTube
show,
or
an
uninterrupted
15
minutes
reading
your
favorite
book.
For
bigger
accomplishments,
like
finishing
up
a
huge
school
project,
see
if
your
parents
will
agree
to
something
special,
like
a
sleepover
with
your
two
best
friends,
or
“just
the
two
of
us”
breakfast
with
mom
or
dad.
3.?
?
34?
?
?.
?
?
When
a
project
seems
overwhelming,
it’s
so
easy
to
come
up
with
an
excuse
to
postpone.
So
set
small
goals
instead.
For
example,
if
you’re
studying
for
a
final
exam,
put
each
chapter
you
need
to
review
on
your
to-do
list,
and
then
work
on
checking
off
one
chapter
a
night
the
week
before
the
exam.
Thus,
you
won’t
be
stuck
staying
up
late
trying
to
cram
everything
in
the
night
before
the
test---so
not
fun.
4.Face
your
fears.
Sometimes
you
might
put
off
doing
something
that
you
really
want
to
do,
like
taking
tennis
lessons.
If
fear
is
holding
you
back,
just
remember
that
everyone
had
to
start
somewhere.?
?
?35?
?
?.
So
stop
delaying,
and
get
moving!
With
just
a
few
small
changes,
you’ll
be
able
to
get
things
done
on
time.
So
what
are
waiting
for?
A.Once
you
identify
the
reason,
you
can
figure
out
which
strategy
will
help
you
tackle
the
task.
B.Just
do
it.
C.You
won’t
be
a
beginner
forever,
and
the
longer
you
put
it
off,
the
harder
it
will
be.
D.We
all
have
those
days
when
we
just
don"t
get
enough
done.
E.As
you
finish
the
task,
put
a
big
check-mark
next
to
it!
F.Break
it
down.
For
those
things
that
just
aren’t
that
exciting
to
do,
reward
yourself
for
getting
them
done.
第三部分语言运用(共两节,满分45分)
第一节完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
I
will
always
appreciate
my
father
and
his
faith.
As
I
held
my
father’s
hands
one
night,
I
couldn’t
help
but
notice
their
calluses(老茧)and
roughness.
His
hands
tell
the
story
of
his
life
as
a
__
36__,
including
all
his
struggles.
One
__37__,
I
remember,
a
drought
(旱灾)hit
Ontario,
turning
it
into
a
burning
desert.
On
one
of
those
hot
mornings
I
was
picking
sweet
corn
with
my
dad
to
fill
the
last
__38__
from
the
grocery
store.
Fifty
dozen
was
all
we
needed,
which
__39__
took
twenty
minutes.
That
morning,
however,
the
process
didn’t
go
quickly.
After
forty
minutes
of
__40__walking
in
the
field,
we
__41__
needed
twenty
dozen.
I
was
completely
frustrated
and
angry.
__42__
the
basket
heavily,
I
declared,
“If
the
store
wants
its
last
twenty
dozen,
they
can
pick
it
themselves!”
Dad
laughed.
“Just
think,
my
little
girl,
only
__43__
dozen
left
for
each
of
__44__
and
then
we’re
done.”
Such
is
Dad----whatever
problem
he
__45__,
he
never
gives
up.
__46__,
the
disastrous
effects
of
the
drought
were
felt
all
over
our
county.
It
was
a
challenging
time
for
everyone,
__47__
Dad
remained
optimistic.
He
__48__
to
be
grateful
for
other
things
like
good
health
and
food
on
our
plate.
Only
then
did
I
truly
begin
to
__49__
Dad
and
his
faith
that
guided
us
through
the
hard
times.
Dad
is
also
a
living
example
of
real
__50__.
From
dawn
to
dusk,
he
works
countless
hours
to
__51__
our
family.
He
always
puts
our
happiness
__52__
his
own,
and
never
fails
to
cheer
me
on
at
my
sports
games
__53__
his
exhaustion(疲劳)
after
long
days.
His
loving
and
selfless
nature
has
inspired
me
to
become
more
sympathetic
and
__54__
others
first.
Dad,the
life
__55__
I
have
learned
from
you
will
stay
with
me
forever.
You
are
my
father,
teacher,
friend
and,
most

Whenever
Jane
Lockshin
went
out
to
lunch
with
her
elderly
aunt
Sylvia,
she
would
offer
to
pay
the
bill.
After
all,
Sylvia
Bloom
was
a
modest
secretary,
who
lost
her
beloved
husband
more
than
a
decade
ago.
She
lived
alone
in
a
one-bedroom
Brooklyn
apartment
and
took
the
subway
everywhere,
including
to
her
job
at
a
Manhattan
law
firm.
She
worked
there—full-time—until
she
was
96.
Simply
put,
Lockshin
didn’t
want
Aunt
Sylvia
to
blow
her
budget
on
lunch.
So
when
Bloom
died
in
2016,
at
97,
it
was
something
of
a
shock
to
discover
that
she’d
left
behind
a
multimillion-dollar
estate.
Almost
as
shocking:
She
had
chosen
to
give
$8.2
million
to
charity.
Six
million
dollars
went
to
educational
programs
at
the
Henry
Street
Settlement,
a
social
services
organization
in

New
York
City.
An
additional
$2
million
went
to
scholarship
funds,
including
at
Bloom’s
alma
mater,
Hunter
College.
“She
had
millions,”
says
Lockshin,
“and
no
one
suspected
it.”
Bloom’s
bequest
to
the
Settlement,
the
largest
in
its
126-year
history,
will
help
fund
a
program
for
disadvantaged
students.
“The
gift
has
been
transformative
not
just
because
of
the
good
we’ll
be
able
to
do
with
it,”
says
David
Garza,
the
agency’s
executive
director,
“but
because
of
the
selflessness
and
the
humility
behind
it.”
Sylvia
Bloom’s
story
is
indeed
extraordinary,
but
it’s
not
as
uncommon
as
you
might
think.
Working-class
benefactors—secretaries,
teachers,
janitors,
and
more—make
headlines
with
awe-inspiring
regularity.?
21.Why
did
Jane
offer
to
pay
the
bill
according
to
paragraph
1??
A.Because
her
aunt
lost
her
husband.
B.Because
her
aunt
refused
to
pay
it
herself.
C.Because
her
aunt
lived
alone
and
was
a
secretary.
D.Because
she
thought
her
aunt
didn’t
have
much
money.
22.What
does
David
Garza’s
words
mean?
A.Poor
students
will
be
funded
by
the
money.
B.The
gift
is
important
because
of
nothing
but
the
good
can
be
done
with
it.
C.It
is
the
devotion
and
modesty
behind
it
that
makes
the
gift
extraordinary.?
D.Jane
Lockshin’s
donation
is
thought
highly
of.
23.What
might
the
following
paragraph
talk
about??
A.The
way
the
money
was
spent.
B.The
way
Sylvia
saved
so
much
money.
C.The
inspiration
Jane
got
from
the
story.
D.The
story
of
other
donors
like
Sylvia.

There
are
plenty
of
common
fears
that,
even
if
we
don’t
have
them
ourselves,
we
totally
understand:
spiders,
heights,
creepy
clowns.
And
then
there’s
fear
of
the
number
13.
It’s
a
number
just
like
any
other,
and
yet
there
are
horror
movies
about
it;
some

and

of

What
makes
this
number
so
scary?
Well,
there’s
no
single
reason
behind
the
widespread
fear.
Historians
have
pinpointed
a
few
potential
reasons
for
13’s
prevalence
as
an
unlucky
number.
The
most
popular
theory
about
the
origin
of
fear
of
the
number
13
is
connected
with
the
Bible:
there
were
13
diners
at
the
Last
Supper.
The
13th
to
arrive
was
Judas,
who
betrayed
Jesus.
In
Norse
mythology(神话),
too,

Earlier
this
year
six
Amazon
delivery
robots
were
introduced
in
a
trial
program
in
Snohomish
County,
Washington.
The
boxy
machines,
which
resemble
six-wheeled
coolers,
carry
meals,
groceries
and
packages
to
homes
and
offices.?
As
a
growing
number
of
citizens
expect
immediate
or
scheduled
delivery
for
just
about
everything,
such
services
are
fast
developing,
which
is
regarded
as
an
effective
approach
to
solve
the
last
mile
delivery
problem.
By
shifting
the
delivery
vehicles
from
roads
to
the
sidewalk,
cities
could
greatly
reduce
traffic
jams.
But
companies
like
Amazon
are
not
developing
this
delivery
technology
simply
to
clear
up
urban
traffic.
Self-driving
vehicles
and
sidewalk
robots
could
reduce
last-mile
delivery
costs
in
cities
by
as
much
as
40
percent,
according
to
a
2018
report.?
To
gain
public
trust,
these
machines
must
demonstrate
they
can
safely
and
quietly
share
pedestrian
spaces.
“It’s
actually
really
hard
to
move
on
crowded
sidewalks
and
not
bump
into
people,”
says
Renia
Ehrenfeucht,
chair
of
the
Community
and
Regional
Planning
Department
at
The
University
of
New
Mexico.?
Sidewalk
robots
may
also
face
disruptions
to
their
own
routines,
including
curious
bystanders
blocking
their
paths
and
thieves
looking
to
grab
a
package
on
route.
“I
do
think

the
largest
problem
is
going
to
be
malevolent(恶意的)
behavior
toward
these
things,”
says
Mary
Cummings,
director
of
the
Humans
and
Autonomy
Lab
at
Duke
University.
Additional
challenges
include
perfecting
the
software
that
helps
delivery
robots
avoid
both
still
and
moving
objects
as
well
as
dealing
with
city
officials
who
want
to
protect
public
spaces.
For
example,
San
Francisco,
home
to
delivery
start-ups
such
as
DoorDash
and
Postmates,
put
a
ban
in
2017
on
autonomous
deliveries
by
sidewalk
robots
and
has
only
slowly
opened
the
door
for
companies
seeking
permits.
Other
U.S.
communities
have
regulated
where
such
robots
can
go
and
how
they
must
behave.
Given
these
obstacles,
sidewalk
delivery
robots
are
not
necessarily
destined
to
win
the
future.
A
2016
McKinsey
report
pointed
out
old-fashioned
bicycles
remain
the
most
cost-competitive
choice
for
many
last-mile
deliveries.?

27.
Which
of
the
following
is
not
a
reason
for
companies

pressure.
B.To
reduce
the
last-mile
delivery
costs.
C.To
gain
public
trust.
D.To
offer
citizens
immediate
delivery.
28.
Why
do
city
officials
oppose
the
use
of
delivery
robots?
A.They
worry
that
goods
on
delivery

will
be

B.They

that
the
rights
of

Can
you
fix
a
date
for
us
to
meet
with
Nick?
I
can
manage
the
twelfth,
fourteenth
or
fifteenth.
W:
Right,
but
Nick
would
be
away
until
May
the
fourteenth,
so
it’ll
have
to
be
the
following
day.?
M:
What’s
the
problem???
W:
Could
you
tell
me
how
I
can
copy
this
document
into
this
disk?
I’ve
been
trying
on
this
computer
for
ages
but
I
can’t
seem
to
do
it.?
M:
I"m
really
excited
about
the
film.
The
reviews
say
there’s
even
more
action
than
in
the
first
three.
It"s
kind
of
terrifying.
W:
They
say
it’s
just
as
funny
in
parts,
too.
I
believe
we’ll
have
a
few
laughs.
W:
Tim,
have
you
seen
my
umbrella?
The
one
I
bought
at
the
supermarket
last
week.
M:
Oops,
I
must
have
left
it
at
my
office,
sorry.
I"ll
bring
it
home
on
Monday.
W:
OK.
I"ll
pick
up
another
umbrella
today.
W:
Do
they
fit?
M:
Yes,
they
feel
fine.
W:
Walk
around
the
shop
and
check
if
they’re
OK.
There"s
a
mirror
over
there.
How
do
they
feel?
M:
OK,
but
perhaps
the
left
one
is
a
little
small.
M:
How
many
times
have
I
told
you
not
to
take
files
home
with
you??
W:
No,
I
didn’t,
John.
I
left
them
just
where
you
told
me
and…
M:
But
they
are
not
here
on
this
computer
desk.
Where’ve
they
gone?
They
can’t
have
got
up
and
walked
away.??
W:Wait
a
minute.Sally
was
still
here
when
I
left.
You
know
how
she’s
always
tidying
things
away.
Right,
just
as
I
thought,
she
put
them
here
beside
this
fax
machine.?
W:
Did
you
watch
Football
Academy
last
night?
Only
two
weeks
to
go
until
the
final.
M:
I
didn’t
see
it
because
I
went
to
bed.
I
was
too
tired
to
stay
up
and
watch
it.
I
wish
they’d
repeat
it
like
they
do
with
so
many
other
programs.
W:
I
know
what
you
mean.
I
love
those
shows---seeing
people
improving
---and
I
get
to
know
new
things
too.
I
love
guessing
who"s
going
to
be
sent
home
each
week.
M:
I
like
being
able
to
phone
up
and
vote.
It
makes
you
think
a
lot
more
and
you
can
pick
up
tips
from
the
judges.
W:
Hello
Karl!
I
haven’t
seen
you
since
we
both
went
to
university.?
M:
Good
to
see
you,
Laura.
I’m
just
back
home
for
a
few
days.?
W:
Me
too.
How
are
you
finding
it
studying
in
a
foreign
country???
M:
I
had
to
find
my
own
accommodation,
although
the
university
was
very
helpful
and
gave
me
a
list
of
apartments
so
it
wasn’t
that
hard.
The
language
isn’t
a
problem
because
my
course
is
taught
in
English.
But
understanding
the
other
students’
jokes
isn’t
easy!??
W:
Sounds
like
fun,
though!
Well,
I’ve
been
in
City
University
London
for
two
years.
I’m
really?
concentrating
on
my
studies
at
the
moment
because
I’ve
got
an
important
essay
to
write.?
Have
you
thought
about
what
you’ll
do
after
your
university
course
finishes??
M:
I
haven’t
made
up
my
mind
actually.??
W:
You
must
feel
lonely
sometimes
abroad.I
thought
I’d
love
the
freedom
of
being
away
from?
home,
but
it
can
be
hard.??
M:
Well,
it’s
normal
to
feel
like
that.
Why
don’t
you
come
and
visit
me
when
you
can
afford
it??
W:
I’m
really
curious
to
see
what
it’s
like
at
your
university.
I’ve
got
more
than
enough
studying
to
do
at
the
moment,
though,
I’m
afraid.?
W:
What’s
so
funny,
dear?
M:
Look
here!
A
small
country
town
in
Australia
decides
to
change
its
name
for
a
month.
W:
Really?
Just
for
a
month?
Why?
M:
For
road
safety.
The
town
is
called
Speed,
in
the
countryside
of
Victoria.
Now,
the
people
living
there
want
to
change
it
into
Speed
Kills.
They
hope
the
drivers
passing
the
town
will
slow
down
a
bit
when
they
see
the
road
sign.
W:
That
sounds
like
a
really
good
idea,
doesn’t
it?
M:
Mmm.
The
idea
was
put
forward
by
the
Victoria
Transport
Accident
Office.
It
soon
won
over
45
people
in
Speed.
They
even
made
a
video
which
has
already
become
a
hit
on
the
Internet!
W:
It’s
interesting
to
see
what
will
happen
then.
M:
A
local
farmer
called
Phil
Down
wants
to
change
his
name,
too.
He’ll
be
called
Phil
Slow
Down.
He
wishes
the
idea
would
catch
on
around
the
world.
W:
I
hope
it
works
well.

2.For
a
single
woman,yards
are
a
strange
thing.
You
don’t
know
whether
to
buy
a
lawn
mower(割草机)or
hire
someone
to
mow
it.
I
did
the
latter,over
many
years.
There
was
one
exception.
In
my
early
30s,I
lived
in
a
cottage
near
my
father,who
had
a
tractor.
He
lived
around
the
corner
on
an
old
country
lane,
now
fully
developed.
But
at
the
time,it
was
with
;sweet
relief,
having
just
returned
from
city
life,that
I
drove
his
borrowed
tractor
down
the
lane
in
the
late
afternoon,mowed
my
land,and
then
drove
it
back
in
the
evening
light,gazing(注视)up
at
the
stars
as
they
came
out.
Soon
the
routine
became
impossible
with
traffic
in
the
developing
area.
I
needed
someone
to
do
my
yard
work.
Vardman
was
a
devoted
young
boy.
He
sang
at
the
top
of
his
lungs
as
he
mowed.
His
work
was
a
joy.
But
Vardman
grew
up.
After
his
graduation
from
high
school,which
I
attended,and
his
leaving
for
college,I
was
without.
So
here
I
was
with
two
African
men
who
brought
not
only
knowledge
but
a
deep
love
of
working
the
land.
There
was
a
peace
about
the
work
they
did.
The
perfection
was
noticeable
everywhere,
with
every
border
in
place,
the
unnecessary
brush
cleared
out.
The
rhythm
in
their
work,
the
rhythm
of
their
work—it
was
poetry
to
watch.
Later
I
moved
to
North
Carolina.
I
found
myself
in
another
small
house
with
a
beautiful
but
wasted
yard.
A
strange
mountain
man
gave
me
a
wonderful
price
and
began
what
has
become
an
exercise
in
grace,gratitude^
and
being
simple.
Over
the
few
years
I
have
lived
here,he
has
slowly,
patiently,
lovingly
turned
a
long-neglected
place
into
a
quiet
beauty.
Quiet,modest,sincere,
he
uses
only
natural
products
on
the
lawn
and
flower
beds.
After
the
growing
season
ends,
he
collects
his
final
paycheck
and
disappears
into
the
mountains.
A
quiet
man
is
teaching
me
patience
and
how
it
brings
beauty
back.
1.What
is
the
second
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.The
development

in
the
city.

tiredness
of
mowing

3.?
?
It’s
a
small
piece—merely
a
square
brick
drawing
a
curly-haired
Archangel
Gabriel—but
it
may
be
the
oldest
surviving
artwork
by
the
Renaissance
master
Leonardo
da
Vinci.
If
confirmed,
this
painting
may
show
historians
what
da
Vinci
looked
like
as
a
teenager.
That’s
because
the
1471
creation
may,in
fact,
be
a
self-portrait
da
Vinci
made
when
he
was
just
18
years
old.
?
?
However,
many
doubt
the
artwork’s
authenticity.
Martin
Kemp,
an
retired
professor
of
art
history
at
Oxford
University
who
is
a
Leonardo
expert,
dismissed
the
claim
absolutely.
“The
chance
of
its
being
by
Leonardo
is
less
than
zero,"
Kemp
told
The
Guardian.
“The
silly
season
for
Leonardo
never
closes."
?
?
The
nearly
8-inch-by-8-inch
square
brick
may
contain
clues
linking
it
to
da
Vinci,
according
to
Ernesto
Solaris
an
art
historian
and
da
Vinci
expert,
and
Ivana
Rosa
BonJfantino,
a
handwriting
expert.
Both
say
that
a
signature
and
date
written
on
the
angels
jawline-
—which
reads
“Da
Vinci
Lionardo”
with
the
date

1471
"一closely
match
da
Vinci"s
handwriting.
?
?
Next
to
the
1471
date
are
the
numbers
52
and
72.
It’s
possible
the
52
is
a
reference
to
1452,
Leonardo’s
birth
year.
Meanwhile,the
7
and
2
may
refer
to
the
letters
“G”
and
“B”
(G
is
the
seventh
letter
of
the
alphabet,
and
B
is
the
second),
which
could
stand
for
Gabriel.
“These
numbers
arc
more
:than
a
signature.
It
is
typical
of
the
famous
puzzles
that
he
loved
all
his
life,”
Solari
said.
?
?
When
analyzing
the
handwriting,
Bonfantino
reviewed
documents
known
to
belong
to
da
Vinci.
Bonfantino
noticed
that
the
“1”
in
the
1471
date
was
shorter
than
the
other
numbers,
which
matched
the
previous
examples
of
da
Vinci"s
writing.
1.What
do
we
know
about
the
painting?
A.It
is
higher
than
8-inches.
B.It
is
a
self-portrait
drawn
by
historians.
C.It
may
be
the
oldest
artwork
drawn
by
Leonardo
da
Vinci.
D.It
is
only
a
square
piece
with
a
curly-haired
character.
2.What
does
the
underlined
word
“dismissed”
in
Paragraph
2
probably
mean?
A.Disagreed.
B.Fined.
C.Removed.
D.Disliked.
3.Why
do
Solari
and
Bonfantino
think
the
painting
contain
clues
about
da
Vinci?
A.It
is
typical
of
him
to
express
love.
B.It
has
an
important
influence
on
him.
C.The
numbers
next
to
the
1471
are
his
birthday.
D.The
signature
and
date
is
the
same
as
his
handwriting.
4.What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
text?
A.A
doubtful
painting
from
da

B.A
discussion
about
the
artwork.

“The

to

But
we
believe
that

“Different
