How
to
Cultivate
the
Students’
Interest
in
Learning
English
Introduction
English
is
becoming
more
and
more
important
with
the
development
of
modern?
society.
What’s
more,
it
is
closely
related
to
other
subjects.
However,
it
is
difficult
for
the
students
to
improve
their
scores.
English
is
also
an
important
factor.
Most
of
the
students
usually
show
great
interest
in
English
at
the
beginning
of
learning
English,
but
less
and
less
are
interested
in
it
from
Grade
Seven
to
Grade
Nine.
Some
of
them
don’t
want
to
learn
English
and
even
some
students
begin
to
give
up
it.
As
teachers,
it
is
necessary
to
let
the
students
know
the
importance
and
necessity
of
learning
English.
It
is
a
very
important
step
in
English
learning.
At
the
same
time,
the
writer
thinks
the
right
way
is
important
and
the
interest
of
learning
English
is
also
an
important
factor.
“Interest
is
the
best
teacher”①,
so
it
is
very
important
for
an
English
teacher
to
help
the
students
keep
their
interest
in
learning
English.
As
every
road
leads
to
Roman,
interest
can
lead
one
to
anyplace
to
where
he
wants
to
go
as
farther
as
he
can.
But
how
can
we
achieve
this
goal?
Only
under
the
guidance
of
great
efforts
together
with
the
strong
interest
can
teachers
help
students
learn
English
well
and
enjoy
the
happiness
of
English
learning.

Chapter
I.
How
to
build
a
new
type
of
teacher-student
relationship
Teacher-student
relationship
directly
restricts
the
students
enthusiasm
and
the
will
to
overcome
difficulties
and
affect
the
efficiency
of
students
awareness
campaigns.
Nowadays,
the
roles
between
teachers
and
students
have
changed
greatly.
Teachers’
roles
are
not

settled
any
more
and
their
roles
have
changed
with
the
development
of
the
society.
Students
spend
5
days
with
their
teachers
a
week.
The
teachers
must
learn
more
about
English
knowledge
and
culture.
The
important
thing
the
teachers
should
remember
is
that
they
must
change
their
attitudes
to
the
students,
because
the
students
are
no
longer
containers
which
the
teachers
pour
their
knowledge
in.
They
are
not
only
the
students,
but
also
the
teachers`
friends.
The
teachers
should
make
friends
with
their
students.
The
teachers
should
care
for
the
students
at
every
aspect,
especially
the
less
advanced
students.
Every
student
longs
for
the
teachers’
care
and
love
and
they
care
for
the
teachers’
good
attitude
to
them
very
much.
Maybe
a
smile
of
the
teachers
can
make
a
good
student.
If
a
teacher
always
blames
and
even
punishes
his
students
when
they
can’t
answer
a
question,
their
self-respect
will
be
hurt.
Then
the
less
advanced
students
will
even
fall
behind
other
students.
In
fact,
everyone
has
his
merits
and
latent
capacity.
Some
students
may
be
good
at
singing,
and
some
students
may
be
good
at
drawing.
Teachers
should
always
point
out
their
merits
and
praise
them
all
the
time
and
patiently
give
them
guidance
and
encouragement.
They
may
make
great
progress
and
get
the
other
students’
respect
and
admire.
For
example,
I
have
taught
a
student
who
lost
self-confidence
of
learning
and
didn’t
communicate
with
others,
but
he
likes
running.?
I
went
to
talk
with
him
and
asked
him
to
do
something
for
me,
such
as
collecting
and
handing
out
notebooks,
to
shorten
the
gap
between
him
and
me.
I
also
encouraged
him
to
show
his
merit.
Half
a
year
later,
the
student
began
to
talk
with
others.
He
made
great
progress
in
the
terminal
examination
and
got
the
other
students’
respect
and
admire.

Someone
said,
“Love
is
a
kind
of
shapeless
strength
and
one
of
the
best
teaching
methods.”
I
believe
this
and
always
warn
myself
not
to
isolate
and
discriminate
the
less
advanced
student.
Now,
the
boy
has
been
a
collage
student.
He
often
calls
me
and
tells
me
his
study
and
life
just
like
an
old
friend.
So
I
think
the
teachers
are
not
only
teachers,
but
also
their
parents
and
their
friends.
ChapterП.
How
to
improve
teaching
methods
Being
a
teacher,
he
or
she
should
pay
attention
to
protect
students’
interest
in
learning
English.
But
teachers
have
some
problems
in
this
aspect.
The
teachers
are
influenced
by
the
traditional
teaching
methods.
The
teachers
are
accustomed
to
following
traditional

teaching
modes
to
give
their
lessons,but
we
can’t
efficiently
control
the
whole
class
and
reach
expected
aims.
So
teachers
should
use
various
methods
according
to
different
time,
different
places,
and
different
persons
to
spur
students’
interest
in
and
out
of
class.
We
can
do
as
the
following
ways.
1.Speak
English
in
class
For
most
of
Chinese
students,
they
have
few
real
chances
to
speak
English
except
in
English
class.
So
teachers
should
encourage
them
to
speak
English
in
class
as
much
as
they
can.
But
in
class,
it
is
not
easy
for
teachers
to
let
the
students
open
their
mouths.
Sometimes,
students
behaved
embarrassed
and
like
children
when
they
speak
their
low
level
English.
What
the
teachers
should
do
is
to
encourage
them
to
open
their
mouths
to
speak
English
though
it
is
difficult
at
first;
Sometimes
they
want
to
ask
something
in
English
but
they
don’t
know
how
to
say
it
in
English.
At
that
time,
what
the
teachers
should
do
is
to
listen
to
them
carefully
and
guide
them.
We
can
create
a
scene,
and
get
the
students
to
speak
English.
Another
way
to
encourage
students
to
speak
English
is
simply—
to
speak
English
ourselves
as
much
as
possible
in
class,
even
though
a
lot
of
students
can’t
understand
us
at
first.
If
we
are
shy
about
speaking
English,
how
can
we
expect
our
students
to
open
their
mouths?
Teachers
can
begin
with

Good.
Very
good.
OK.
Listen
to
me.”
and
so
on.
Then
add
one
or
several
sentences
a
day.
At
the
same
time,
teachers
should
encourage
the
students
to
speak
English
after
class.
It
not
only
can
help
the
students
to
improve
their
listening
ability,
but
also
can
help
students
improve
their
speaking
ability.
2.?
Create
the
cheerful
learning
environment
The
students
in
primary
school
Grade
Three
start
to
learn
English
with
great
curiosity
at
the
beginning
and
they
think
that
English
class
is
full
of
fun.
So
they
are
interested
in
it.
What’s
more,
it
is
easy
for
them
to
study
it.
They
don’t
need
to
remember
so
many
words
and
grammars.
The
most
of
work
that
they
do
is
to
read
and
act.
But
when
they
become
middle
school
students,
so
many
words
and
grammar
regulations
need
to
be
remembered,
learning
English
is
not
a
joyful
activity
any
more.
A
lot
of
students
think
that
it
is
a
heavy
burden
for
them.
So
English
teacher
need
not
only
to
get
the
students
to
know
the
importance
of
it,
but
also
create
a
cheerful
learning
environment
to
spur
students’
interest.
Then
what
should
we
do?
(1).
Using
morden
electric
teaching
aids
to
create
a
learning
situation.
Every
child
is
interested
in
cartoon
movies.
The
voice
and
scene
can
catch
their
eyes.
For
example,
“Where
is
the
post
office?”
in
JEB
Grade
Seven,
the
main
learning
aims
are
asking
and
pointing
ways.
So
I
use
multimedia
technology.
I
made
some
slides
with
animations.
With
the
help
of
them,
the
students
can
easily
learn
the
words
and
phrases
“left,
right,
turn
left,
turn
right,
walk
along”
and
so
on.
Teachers
needn’t
to
say
so
much
but
can
get
a
better
result.
(2)
Using
material
objects
or
drawing
some
stick
figures
to
stir
the
students’
interest.
For
the
students
who
are
in
Grade
Seven,it
is
difficult
to
understand
their
teachers
when
they
only
speak
English
in
class.
So
teachers
should
make
full
use
of
advanced
teaching
resources
to
teach
and
help
the
students
to
master
language
knowledge
and
language
skills
in
a
pleasant
atmosphere.
For
example,
when
I
taught
the
sentence
pattern
What’s
this
in
English?,
I
asked
the
students
to
take
out
the
things
they
had
(such
as
books,
bags,
pencils,
pens,
rulers,
knives
etc),
then
I
hold
up
one
of
the
objects
and
asked
“What’s
this
in
English?”
and
answered
myself
“It
is
a
/an
…”.
Sometimes
drawing
can
help
the
teachers
a
lot.
When
I
taught
nouns
such
as
“apple”
“pear”
“egg”
and
so
on,
I
employed
drawings.
If
we
explain
“apple”
is
a
kind
of
fruit,
the
students
don’t
know
the
word
“fruit”.
How
can
they
understand
us?
I
just
drew
an
apple
on
the
blackboard
and
asked
“What’s
this
in
English?”
then
they
answered
“It’s
an
apple.”
The
students
quickly
understood
the
word.
In
this
way
we
can
get
the
students
to
know
more
words
like
this.
Of
course,
we
can
also
use
“material
objects”
to
teach
these
words.
Then,
we
can
just
show
the
students
an
apple
and
needn’t
to
say
any
Chinese
words.
(3)
Setting
“Language
situation”
Atmosphere
is
very
important
for
language
learning.
One
said
if
we
talk
with
a
baby
who
was
brought
up
in
an
English-spoken
country
since
he
was
born,
he
can
speak
English
smoothly.
So,
speaking
and
listening
abilities
are
very
important
for
an
English
learner.
When
I
teach
a
conversation,
I
often
use
a
way
of
“language
situation”,
I
perform
different
roles
and
act
out
the
conversation
for
the
student
first
in
different
voice
by
imitating
difficult
roles,
then
I
will
ask
several
students
to
perform
different
roles
and
act
out
the
conversations.
Sometimes,
in
order
to
stimulate
the
students’
interest,
Teachers
may
ask
several
students
to
act
out
the
conversation
in
Chinese
even
in
local
Chinese.
In
this
way,
the
students
learned
knowledge
in
a
lively
and
joyful
atmosphere
and
show
great
interest
to
English.
(4).
Collect
new
materials
Compared
with
the
old
materials,
new
materials
are
fresh
and
close
to
the
topic
and
content
of
students’
life.
As
teachers,
we
should
make
full
use
of
advanced
teaching
resources
to
create
a
pleasant
atmosphere
for
students.
Take
Topic
2,
Unit
7
in
Project
English:
Cooking
is
fun!
as
another
example,
it
mainly
tells
the
students
the
use
of
“first,
second,
next,
then,
finally”
by
making
sandwiches.
But
all
of
my
students
are
from
the
country,
most
of
them
have
never
eaten
sandwiches.
They
only
saw
them
on
TV.
So
I
used
a
new
material
that
they
all
knew.
It
is
a
kind
of
cake
with
meat
and
it
is
called
“肉夹馍”
in
Chinese.
All
the
students
know
it
and
know
how
to
make
it.
When
I
asked
“Can
you
tell
me
how
to
make
肉夹馍?”,
they
answered
loudly
“Of
course,
I
can.”
At
the
same
time,
some
students
began
to
tell
the
course
with
actions
even
the
less
advanced
students
began
to
speak
in
Chinese.
In
the
funny
topic
the
students
easily
mastered
the
words
“first,
second,
then,
finally”.
3.
Insert
some
games
in
class
“Playing
is
a
child’s
natural
way
of
learning.”
Genevieve
Roth②
said.
New
teaching
idea
promotes
“Learning
in
playing”.
Please
keep
in
mind
when
teaching
English
as
a
second
language
and
teaching
English
as
a
foreign
language,
that
the
classroom
may
be
the
students"
only
exposure
to
the
language.
Games
can
make
language
learning
a
positive
and
exciting
experience,
which
will
be
important
to
every
student.
They
can
guide
the
students
master
the
knowledge
by
playing
games.
If
we
can
keep
students
motivated
and
engaged
in
the
lesson,
the
result
can
be
incredible.
For
example,
when
I
teach
the
numbers,
we
play
“the
number
game”.
The
students
say
the
numbers
from
one
to
one
hundred
one
by
one,
but
when
they
meet
“three”
or
the
times
of
number
“three”,
they
can’t
speak
out
the
number.
Instead,
they
can
only
clap.
Every
student
takes
an
active
part
in
it.
They
can
master
the
language
points
in
games
easily.
4.
Give
opportunities
of
success
to
every
student.
Always
giving
opportunities
of
success
to
students
will
let
them
get
more
sense
of
achievement.
Suhomlinski③once
said
“The
joy
of
success
is
a
tremendous
emotional
power,
which
enables
students
to
have
the
desire
to
learn”.
Because
most
of
the
less
advanced
students
have
no
chance
to
show
themselves.
Some
of
them
in
class
answer
a
wrong
question
or
speak
a
wrong
tone,
other
students
laugh
at
them.
After
a
long
time,
he
will
lose
interest
in
this
language.
Teachers
should
love
them
and
respect
their
rights.
Because
they
may
experience
less
happiness
of
learning.
A
famous
psychologist
once
said:
small
success
can
give
one
a
sense
of
succeed,
which
will
help
him
a
lot.
An
English
teacher
should
always
give
the
students
opportunities,
especially
the
less
advanced
students
,
to
show
themselves.
Every
student
wants
to
get
a
high
score.
When
they
get
a
high
score,
they
will
be
confidence.
Or
they
will
lose
their
interest.
In
class,
teachers
should
praise
students
when
they
got
success,
even
a
little,
the
teacher
must
confess
and
praise
them
again
and
again.
Encourage
the
good
students
to
try
their
best
to
get
a
higher
score,
encourage
the
less
advanced
students
to
find
their
advantages
to
catch
up
with
the
other
students.
Then
every
student
will
not
feel
that
it
is
difficult
to
learn
English.
For
example,
teachers
should
ask
the
less
advanced
students
to
answer
those
easy
questions
in
class,
and
let
the
good
students
to
answer
the
difficult
questions
for
them.
What’s
more,
teachers
should
set
more
items,
such
as:
writing
competition,
spoken
English
competition
and
so
on.
After
the
items,
the
good
students
will
win
small
prizes
from
teachers,
such
as
a
pen,
a
notebook,
a
flag
and
so
on.
Of
course,
when
they
got
failed,
the
teacher
should
give
guidance
and
help
instead
of
blaming
and
irritating
them.
The
less
advanced
students
felt
that
they
are
not
looked
down
by
others
and
their
progress
became
obvious
day
by
day.
The
teachers
will
be
very
satisfied
with
their
progress.

Chapter
III.
How
to
foster
the
students
to
have
a
good
learning
habit
As
we
all
know,
it
is
very
important
for
every
student
to
have
a
good
learning
habit.
A
good
learning
habit
makes
contributions
to
foster
students’
intelligence
and
help
them
get
knowledge.
The
proverb
says
the
habit
is
the
second
nature.
A
good
habit
is
hard
to
obtain
and
easy
to
lose,
but
a
bad
habit
is
easy
to
get
and
it
is
hard
to
get
rid
of
it.
As
students,
they
shouldn’t
put
off
what
can
be
done
today
till
tomorrow.
They
should
be
careful
to
do
their
homework
and
listen
carefully
and
be
active
in
class.
However,
some
students
don’t
have
good
habits.
They
do
not
want
to
spend
time
previewing
their
lessons
before
class
and
reviewing
after
class.
They
do
not
listen
to
the
teachers
carefully
in
class,
and
do
not
have
good
habits
of
taking
notes
in
class.
As
teachers,
we
should
let
students
know
that
once
the
bad
habits
are
formed,
and
soon
they
will
be
very
harmful
to
them.
Besides,
as
the
saying
goes,
without
a
correct
and
p
roper
method,
even
a
scholar
with
bright
thoughts
may
explore
blindly.
In
fact,
some
students
are
really
very
diligent,
but
the
result
of
learning
is
so
depressing
and
frustrating.
What
is
the
problem?
Maybe
they
should
focus
more
attention
on
their
right
ways
of
learning.
As
the
Chinese
saying:
Give
a
man
fish,
you
feed
him
a
day;
Teach
a
man
how
to
fish,
you
feed
him
a
life.
1.
Preview
the
lessons
before
class
Preview
is
necessary
for
every
student
in
studying
each
subject,
especially
in
learning
English.
Students
can
find
questions
by
preview,
they
can
also
find
the
keys
in
the
next
lesson.
What’s
more,
they
can
know
what
they
should
prepare
before
the
class.
English
is
a
kind
of
language
just
like
Chinese.
It
also
has
so
many
words
to
remember.
The
words
just
like
the
Chinese
character.
All
of
us
remembered
that
we
always
wrote
the
Chinese
characters
many
times
after
school.
Of
course,
English
words
need
to
be
remembered
in
the
same
way.
Students
can
preview
the
words
before
the
class,
then
they
can
save
a
lot
of
time
to
do
their
homework.
Preview
can
improve
students’
learning
efficiency
and
help
them
develop
self-learning
ability.
2.?
Focus
students’
attention
in
class.
For
most
rural
students,
the
most
time
to
contact
English
is
when
they
are
in
class.
So
they
should
listen
to
their
teachers
carefully.
They
should
be
active
in
class,
try
to
answer
the
teachers’
questions,
take
an
active
part
in
the
games
that
the
teachers
organize,
and
take
notes
in
time
and
so
on.
As
teachers,
what
should
we
do
is
to
prepare
the
lessons
carefully
and
use
teaching
methods
freely
and
do
not
bring
our
social
life
into
the
classroom.
In
class,
teachers
can
also
focus
students’
attention
by
changing
their
tones.
The
most
important
thing
is
to
let
every
student
feel
that
they
are
important.
When
the
students
answer
the
questions,
teachers
should
listen
to
them
carefully
and
speak
highly
of
what
they
have
done.
Remember
never
to
stop
them
though
their
answers
are
far
away
from
what
you
want,
and
neglect
the
mistakes
they
have
made.
At
last,
dressing
neatly
can
attract
all
students’
eyes
when
you
appear
in
class.
3.
Review
the
lessons
after
class

“He
who
learns
but
does
not
think,
is
lost;
He
who
thinks,
but
does
not
learn
is
in
great
danger.”
Confucius④
said.
Students
shouldn’t
learn
all
of
their
book
knowledge
in
several
days
before
an
exam.
After
class,
revision
is
necessary.
Students
can
revise
the
key
point
that
the
teachers
talked.
Of
course,
they
may
check
off
the
things
that
they
feel
they
have
fully
mastered.
They
can
ask
a
friend,
parents,
or
other
family
members
to
help
them
study
when
they
are
in
trouble
or
confused.
Students
can
also
have
them
act
as
the
teacher,
and
use
the
study
material
to
ask
themselves
questions
that
the
teacher
might
ask.
And
it
is
good
to
study
before
doing
their
homework.
They
can
review
their
textbook,
any
notes
they
took
in
class,
or
any
notes
taken
from
the
book
or
handouts.
“Practice
makes
perfect”.
Students
must
keep
practicing
after
they
have
finished
the
homework.
Then
just
before
the
exam,
students
can
just
go
over
their
material
and
notes,
reread
and
understand
the
book
and
homework.
The
examination
may
be
very
easy
for
the
students
who
have
learned
in
the
method
that
I
have
mentioned.
At
last,
the
attitude
in
learning
English
is
very
important,
too.
Every
successful
thing
depends
on
the
correct
attitude.
First
of
all,
students
should
take
their
right
attitude
in
English
learning.
At
the
same
time,
teachers
have
many
things
to
do
for
their
students.
They
should
try
their
best
to
find
out
more
ways
to
spur
students’
interest
in
and
out
of
class.

Conclusion
In
this
article,
through
the
analysis
of
students’
interest
of
learning
English,
we
know
interest
is
very
important
in
learning
English,
Once
the
students
are
interested
in
learning
English,
it
is
a
pleasant
thing
for
them
to
study.
Teachers
should
use
various
methods
to
stimulate
students’
interest
and
help
them
cultivate
good
habits.
Only
with
the
teachers’
right
guidance
and
strong
interest
can
students
learn
English
well
and
enjoy
the
happiness
of
English
learning.
